Organizing and Activism with Lara Kiswani, AROC and Ahmad Abuznaid, USCPR

Lara Kiswani is the executive director of the Arab Resource & Organizing Center (AROC). She is from Beit Iksa and Aqir, Palestine, and was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. AROC serves poor and working class Arab and Muslim immigrants and organizes to build power and overturn the social systems perpetuating forced migration, racism, exploitation, and war. Understanding the liberation of Arab people as inextricably tied to the liberation of all oppressed people, AROC members build power by participating in local campaigns, coalitions and mobilizations. Recent victories include the implementation of Arabic in public schools; Stop Urban Shield, ending the largest militarized law enforcement training in the world; and working with ILWU Local 10 to Block the Boat, one of the most successful BDS victories for Palestine in US history.

Ahmad Abuznaid is the Executive Director of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights. Prior to joining USCPR, Ahmad co-founded the Florida-based Dream Defenders after the killing of Trayvon Martin, serving as Legal & Policy Director and COO during his time there. Ahmad went on to lead the National Network for Arab American Communities as the Executive Director from 2017 to 2019.
