Come join us for this public lecture presented by the Islamicate Studies Working Group at the University of Pittsburgh, and featuring Cemil Aydin, Professor of History at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Come join the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh in hosting Sheikh Suhaib Webb for a discussion on leadership. Sheikh Suhaib Webb is a contemporary American Muslim Imam, thought leader, and educator. The evening will begin with dinner at 5:30 PM, followed by Isha at 6:45 PM, and concluding with his lecture starting at 7:00 PM.

The theme for the ninth annual International Islamophobia Conference is framed by a critical article written by Professor S. Sayyid and Abdoolkarim Vakil (https://irdproject.com/reports-of-islamophobia-1997-2017/) on the occasion of Runnymede Trust publishing, “Islamophobia: Still a Challenge for us all”. We included the full article below to contextualize the ninth annual conference call for papers, which seeks to examine five areas framed by the authors and abstracts should engage one or more of these strands.

Through funding from the U.S. Department of Education, six Title VI National Resource Centers plan to award stipends to faculty at community colleges and minority-serving institutions to develop and incorporate greater content about Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia into the curricula of the institutions at which they teach. These National Resource Centers (NRCs) receive grants under the Higher Education Act to train specialists and to work with other postsecondary institutions to expand Russian, East European, and Eurasian content in the classroom.
