World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh

North Korea is years beyond the nuclear “breakout” the US so fears in Iran. Yet, there are similarities in how the US strategy should be shaped to reduce the threat of a nuclear crisis with both countries. Is the US safer today or more at risk following President Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and meeting with Kim Jong-un?

Joseph Cirincione, president of the Ploughshares Fund and author of the books Nuclear Nightmares: Securing the World Before It Is Too Late, Bomb Scare: The History and Future of Nuclear Weapons and Deadly Arsenals: Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Threats, will discuss the prospects for nuclear disarmament and consequences of current US policies.

This event is presented in partnership with the Iran Project.
