The Zahra Center - Based on the novel "Surviving Zahra" by Fatima Aly Jaffer, directed by Iman Mazloum, this is a play about the culture of silence regarding domestic abuse and sexual assault in North American Muslim communities, set against a backdrop of a seven day long wedding with matchmaking aunties and annoying sister-in-laws. This play offers a narrative of the North American Muslim experience while also exploring issues that are seen as taboo topics in most societies. Performance dates are March 26th and 27th at 2 p.m. in the McConomy Auditorium at Carnegie Mellon University. Free and open to the public.
