Understanding Islam and Muslims, July 6–17, 2020

Dar al Islam will offer their 31st annual Teachers’ Institute, which will be held this year as a completely online event due to the pandemic. Though the format is different, this is an opportunity for educators who may not be able to travel, whose planned activities for this summer have been cancelled, or who have always wanted to attend but haven't been able to schedule .

Participants will learn about the depth and breadth of Islamic faith, Practice, History and culture from university-level content experts through pre-recorded lectures to view prior to the institute at your leisure, and live, online sessions with faculty during the 10 business days of the Institute, from July 6 to 17, 2020. Participants will also engage in online curriculum resource sessions for teaching about Islam in social studies, religion, humanities, or world history/geography classes. There will be a forum for networking and discussion with fellow educators, and cultural activities as well. Participants will have access to a large electronic database of Institute materials and collaborate on a final project that lends itself for immediate use in their classrooms.
