Politics, Media, Culture and the Middle East
October 2-3, 2020
Honolulu, Hawaiʻi

Arab Studies Quarterly, The Center for Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies (CIMES) at California State University, San Bernardino and the College of Social Sciences, at the University of Hawai‘i—Mānoa will hold a joint conference at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, commemorating the 42th anniversary of Arab Studies Quarterly.

The Conference theme, Politics, Media, Culture and the Middle East, will examine multiple subthemes, including:

Role of alternative news and social media outlets in providing different perspectives
Scholarship focused on understanding media, including digital media, entertainment in their portrayal of Middle East issues.
Regional political and economic upheaval in a global context
We welcome abstract submissions that educate and engage participants and scholars about this critical and timely topic. Both individual papers and panels are welcome.

Please submit your 250-word abstract and a short bio via email to Prof. Ibrahim Aoudé at aoude@hawaii.edu by April 20, 2020. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by May 15, 2020.

A selection of presented papers will be published in Arab Studies Quarterly.
